Ukrainian forces liberate nearly 16 square kilometres in Donetsk region — top commander
Ukraine’s Armed Forces have liberated about 16 square kilometers in recent weeks in the area of the settlements of Udachne, Kotlyne, and Shevchenko in the Donetsk region. Overall, in the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers are repelling about 30 Russian attacks daily
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported the information.
He informed that over the course of three days, he visited almost all brigades of the Donetsk Operational-Tactical Grouping.
“I listened to reports from the commander of the operational-tactical grouping, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi. I worked productively with brigade commanders at their command posts and resolved problematic issues on the ground related to combat operations, ammunition supply, and logistical support. Of course, our main asset and greatest value is our people,” Syrskyi emphasized.
The Commander-in-Chief noted that he issued the necessary orders to resolve pressing issues and meet the needs of the military, and also focused on the preparation and support of combat operations for each combat unit and assault group.
However, he also stressed that the Russian troops have not abandoned their plans to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, although those plans remain unfulfilled.
“We continue our defensive operation, are conducting counteroffensive actions, and have achieved certain successes. Over the past few weeks, we have liberated about 16 square kilometers of territory in the area of the settlements of Udachne, Kotlyne, and Shevchenko,” Syrskyi emphasized.
- On April 9, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Russian forces have effectively already begun an offensive on the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
