Ukrainian Defense Ministry approves 60 models of equipment for military use
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved twice as many models of weapons and equipment for military use in a month as compared to February of last year
The Ministry of Defense press service reports.
In February 2024, the Ministry of Defense approved approximately 60 models of weapons and military equipment for use in the armed forces, both domestically produced and foreign. For comparison, in February of last year, there were 33 units.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk specifically highlighted that there is not only an increase in the total number of approved models of weapons and military equipment for use in the Armed Forces but also a rise in the number of new domestically developed and produced weapons.
"Among the new samples of military equipment, codified and approved for use during February 2024, are several electronic warfare (EW) systems, including so-called 'trench' electronic warfare tools, which will enable effective counteraction against enemy FPV drones," noted the Ministry of Defense.
Six samples of automotive and special equipment, as well as a 120-mm mortar of Ukrainian production, have also been approved for use. Among the novelties for the Armed Forces are demining equipment, dynamic protection elements for armored vehicles, and ammunition for UAVs.
Note: Codification, which involves the approval of a sample of domestically produced weapons and military equipment for use with the assignment of a NATO stock number, allows for its procurement using funds from the state budget from manufacturers for Ukrainian Armed Forces units.
- On February 19, it was announced that Ukraine's Defense Ministry is testing a new anti-thermal imaging poncho that remains invisible to thermal imagers and night vision devices.
