Border guards said that the 34-year-old prisoner of war was from the Tver region, Russia. He served as a rifleman. The Russian said that his main motivation to fight in Ukraine was to earn money.
"His unit crossed the Ukrainian border on May 10 in the Kharkiv region. He was wounded by a drone strike on May 12 and was abandoned in a building in Vovchansk," Ukrainian defenders say.
In addition, during the assault, Ukrainian border guards took four Russian firing positions and eliminated six soldiers in Vovchansk.
