Ukrainian army repels 9 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector over last day - General Staff

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the last day, 65 combat engagements took place. Russia launched 2 missile strikes, 18 airstrikes, and 49 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, the Russian terrorist attacks resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region, where the Russian troops tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled two Russian attacks near Torske, Donetsk region, and two more attacks near Makiivka, Luhansk region. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 7 attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where Russian forces tried to improve their tactical position without success. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka and 4 more attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. There, the Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian defense to no avail. About 10 localities came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian army near Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the Russian Federation tried to improve the tactical situation 20 times to no avail. About 5 localities were subjected to enemy fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks southeast of Vodiane, Zolota Nyva and west of Staromaiorsk in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled three Russian attacks southeast of Robotyne. Over 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia launched an airstrike near Stavky, Mykolaiv region. About 5 settlements were subjected to constant Russian attacks.

Russia does not abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the Russian troops made 6 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops.
