Ukrainian army repels 28 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector over last day

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the past day, Russia launched 2 missile strikes, 65 airstrikes, and 12 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 6 attacks near Petropavlivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region; Andriivka and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 7 attacks near Makiivka, Nevske, and Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region, as well as Terny and Torske in the Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 10 localities.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region; Novyi, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Donetsk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 28 attacks near the towns of Arkhanhelske, Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, Novopokrovske, Umanske, Netailove, and west of Semenivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army, with the support of air power, tried to force our units out of their positions. More than 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russians in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Vodiane in the Donetsk region, where the invading forces tried to break through the defense 12 times. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russians, supported by aviation, attacked the Ukrainian positions 5 times near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia doesn't abandon its intention to force Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day, with the support of aviation, it carried out 6 unsuccessful attacks on the Ukrainian positions near the village of Krynky, Kherson region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 13 manpower concentration areas and 3 control points, and missile troops struck 1 control point.

• On May 3, the Russian army launched a missile attack on Kropyvnytskyi, injuring a man and damaging infrastructure.
