Russian troops approach Chasiv Yar from new direction - AFU serviceman
Kyrylo Sazonov, a Ukrainian serviceman and political analyst, notes Russian troops have started attacking from Toretsk, aiming to pressure Shumy and New York from Horlivka
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"The enemy's attacks are not frequent but continuous. Official reports indicate that Russian assaults have been ongoing incessantly over the past week. There is hardly a moment without an attack occurring somewhere; there are no pauses. Occasionally, they briefly retract under pressure from our soldiers' Grad and artillery strikes. Then everything stops for a while, and then the assault continues. There are also mechanized assaults in the forehead of Chasovyi Yar, and small groups of up to 5 people are trying to break into the Novyi and Kanal neighborhoods," the Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman commented.
According to him, the primary objective of Ukrainian artillery is to eliminate Russian forces within the target area, especially on their approach to positions where most Russian troops perish and lose their equipment. Those who manage to reach the positions are then engaged and neutralized by Ukrainian infantry.
"Tactical changes occur rapidly, making it impractical to follow them online. We lose ground, Russians enter, but Ukrainian mortar crews engage them while our assault troops clear them out, reclaiming our position. This cycle repeats frequently. The situation was dire, but after more than a day, Russians switched to another direction, specifically Toretsk, which isn't far. Our troops from the 41st Brigade are maintaining positions there. Meanwhile, invaders are advancing from Horlivka towards Shumy and New York. The direction towards Toretsk remains challenging, it is our right southern flank," explained Kyrylo Sazonov.
