Ukraine’s air defenses down 48 Shaheds after new Russian drone attack

The Air Force Command reported.

After the overnight strike on September 2, Russian forces launched another wave from the north, using 53 strike drones of the Shahed type and various decoy UAVs. Most were directed toward Kyiv.

As of 4 p.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 48 enemy drones.

"As of 4 p.m., new groups of Russian drones are being tracked in the airspace over Chernihiv and Sumy regions," the Air Force clarified.

  • On the evening of Monday, September 1, the Russian army launched attack drones at Ukrainian territory. One person was killed in Bila Tserkva. In Sumy, a drone hit a non-residential building, injuring several people, including children.
  • Just a few hours later, on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, Russian forces attacked Kyiv and the region with strike drones. Air defense was active on the city’s left bank. In the Dniprovskyi district, a drone fragment fell.
