'Ukraine won’t concede its land': PM Shmyhal on U.S. talks in Saudi Arabia
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has commented on the negotiations with the United States held in Saudi Arabia
Espreso journalist Kateryna Halko reported the information.
"Negotiations took place in Jeddah between the Ukrainian and the United States delegations. The talks were quite successful in terms of our relations with the USA. We are grateful to our allies for their support. During the negotiations, Ukraine's position was very clear. There were directives to achieve peace in the skies, at sea, and to stop firing on energy infrastructure. In other words, the protection of energy facilities and a ceasefire. In particular, preventing deep strikes into each of the countries," said Shmyhal.
He added that the American side expressed the position of a complete ceasefire for 30 days.
"It was a difficult situation in terms of negotiations. But Ukraine agreed to show that Russia is the initiator, and Russia will primarily continue this war, continue firing, and will violate these agreements in any case, we will see that," emphasized the Prime Minister.
Denys Shmyhal also noted that Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty remain the top priority.
"As for territorial concessions, there is a clear position from the President of Ukraine, which he has repeatedly expressed. Ukraine does not intend to give up its territories. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state are the number one priority. This is defined by the UN Charter, it is defined by international law. We have no and never had any directives to engage in talks with anyone about territorial concessions of Ukraine," summarized the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
