Ukraine strikes Russian Kalibr missile carrier near Crimea

On August 28, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence struck a Russian Buyan-M missile ship carrying Kalibr missiles near temporarily occupied Crimea in the Sea of Azov

The Defense Intelligence reported the information.

“On August 28, 2025, as a result of a joint operation by the Department of Active Operations of Ukraine’sDefense Intelligence and the Phantoms special unit in the Sea of Azov near temporarily occupied Crimea, a small Russian Buyan-M class missile ship, carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles, was struck,” the intelligence service reported.

Ukrainian soldiers of the Phantoms unit damaged the ship’s radar system, while special operatives from the Department of Active Operations struck the missile launcher aboard the vessel.

“As a result of the strikes, the Russian missile ship, which was in the potential launch zone for Kalibr missiles in the Temryuk Bay, sustained damage and was forced to leave the combat area,” the intelligence service added.

  • On the night of August 28, Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces attacked Russian oil refineries in Krasnodar Krai and Samara region. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the information.
