On the night of August 28, 2025, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck several key Russian targets. Units of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces and the Defense Intelligence (HUR) attacked the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
This refinery is involved in supplying the Russian army. A large-scale fire was recorded at the facility.
The General Staff also confirmed the strike on the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara region, Russia.
“In addition, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, and the Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, struck ammunition depots and several Russian logistics facilities involved in supplying the Russian military. The targets are located both in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine,” the General Staff added.

“Russia lost another 4.7% of oil refining capacity overnight. Overall, the occupier’s oil column shrank by 21% during the first two weeks of August 2025,” he said.
