Reuters reported the information.

The localized ceasefire in the area surrounding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Sunday, December 28. The agreement between Ukraine and Russia marks a rare moment of coordination amid the ongoing war, focused specifically on ensuring nuclear safety at the embattled facility.

Following the establishment of the temporary truce, repair crews immediately began restoration work on electrical transmission lines serving the nuclear plant. The power line infrastructure has been repeatedly damaged during the course of the war, raising international concerns about the facility's ability to maintain critical cooling systems.

An IAEA monitoring team is currently overseeing the repair operations on-site, which are expected to continue for several days. The agency emphasized that the supervised work is part of ongoing measures aimed at preventing a nuclear accident during the war in Ukraine. The Zaporizhzhia plant, Europe's largest nuclear power station, has been a focal point of international safety concerns since fighting began in the region, with both sides trading accusations over attacks near the facility.
