Ukrinform reports.
“A large team of Ukrainians together with international partners managed to return 1,029 Ukrainian children within the framework of Bring Back UA. This is as of today,” Lubinets said.
He emphasized that Qatar is a key mediator in the return process.
In addition, the ombudsman noted that verification remains the main problem, as Russia does not provide information on the whereabouts of Ukrainian children.
“We are using all levers to obtain information about the whereabouts of the Ukrainian child, restore his or her documents, and then convince or provide information to our partners. They communicate with the Russian side. And then we work out the logistical routes for returning our children,” he said.
- On October 2, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said at the third plenary event of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has illegally abducted more than 20,000 Ukrainian children. Currently, there is a risk of deportation of another 1.5 million children who remain in the temporarily occupied territories.
