Ukraine reports 85 frontline clashes, repels 19 Russian attacks in Pokrovsk sector

Since the beginning of the day on May 24, 85 combat engagements have taken place on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Defense Forces repelled 19 enemy attacks in the Pokrovsk sector, and 6 battles are still ongoing

Russian shelling of Ukraine

Border settlements of Porozok, Kamyanska Sloboda, and Lohy in the Chernihiv region; Stepok, Dmytrivka, Maryine, Zarichne, Progres, Turya, Tymofiivka, Bratenytsia, Shevchenkove, and Myropilske in the Sumy region were affected by shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian army tried three times to break through the defensive lines of our defenders near Vovchansk and Vovchanski Khutory but was repulsed.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russia twice tried to advance in the directions of Petropavlivka and Nova Kruglyakivka but was stopped by our defenders.

In the Lyman sector, the invading army attacked 12 times near the settlements of Kopanky, Lypove, Ridkodub, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodyazi, Torske, and in the direction of Karpivka, Hrekivka, and Olhivka; three combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, the Defense Forces repelled two enemy attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka and Pereizne.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks west of Andriivka and in the direction of Predtechyne, and one more combat engagement is ongoing.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy attacked nine times near Druzhba, Dyliivka, Krymske, Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, Petrivka, and in the direction of Pleshchiivka; three battles are currently ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russians made 25 attempts to dislodge our defenders from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Zorya, Nova Poltavka, Myrolyubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Muravka, Troitske, and Andriivka. The Defense Forces are holding back the enemy's pressure and repelled 19 attacks; six clashes are still ongoing. Enemy losses are being clarified. Air strikes hit Zorya, Novotoretske, Sofiivka, and Kopteve.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy attacked 10 times near the settlements of Kostiantynopil, Bahatyr, Vilne Pole, Rivnopil, and Novosilka; two battles are still ongoing. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Novodarivka, Novopol, Perebudova, and Komar.

In the Huliaipole sector, uncontrolled missiles attacked the areas of the settlements of Huliaipole and Malynivka. There were no active offensive actions by the enemy.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian forces, supported by aviation, advanced in the direction of Novoandriivka; combat operations also took place in the areas of Stepove and Maly Shcherbaky. A total of three clashes were recorded in the sector.

In the Pridniprovskyi sector, the enemy did not conduct active offensive actions but launched an air strike on the settlement of Kozatske.

In the Kursk sector, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 11 attacks by Russian invaders during this day, and five more combat engagements are ongoing. The enemy launched 8 air strikes, dropping nine CABs, and carried out 62 shellings, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.

In other sectors of the front, the situation has not undergone significant changes.

  • On Friday, May 23, the Russian army actively shelled the front-line regions of Ukraine. The invading forces struck settlements in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. As a result of these attacks, 10 civilians were killed and 29 were injured.
