Ukraine repels 20 attacks in Avdiivka direction, strikes 17 Russian troops' clusters

This is stated in the evening report of the Ukrainian General Staff for May 9.

In total, Russia launched 5 missile strikes, 72 air strikes, and 74 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline update and attacks on Ukrainian territory

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 20 attacks near 7 settlements. About 20 settlements were subjected to Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops keep holding back the Russian army near 3 settlements in the Donetsk region. Despite 6 attempts, Russian forces, supported by aviation, were unable to alter the tactical situation. They also carried out an air strike near the settlement of Bohoyavlenka in the Donetsk region. Russian artillery and mortar fire targeted over 10 settlements.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops launched 16 unsuccessful attacks near Robonyne, Zaporizhzhia region, and Staromayorske, Donetsk region. Over 20 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russia persists in attempting to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Two unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian troop positions near the village of Krynky in the Kherson region were made during the day. Over 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes against Russian troops
