Ukraine ready to negotiate, but not to surrender — Minister of Economy
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko emphasized that the Ukrainian people will not agree to a frozen conflict and will never recognize the occupation of Crimea
She wrote this on the social media platform X.
"As Ukraine’s delegation meets with partners in London today, we reaffirm a principled position: Ukraine is ready to negotiate—but not to surrender. There will be no agreement that hands Russia the stronger foundations it needs to regroup and return with greater violence," the minister emphasized.
According to her, a complete ceasefire—on land, in the air, and at sea—is a necessary first step.
Svyrydenko noted that if Russia opts for a limited pause, Ukraine will respond in kind.
"Our people will not accept a frozen conflict disguised as peace. We will never recognize the occupation of Crimea. And if NATO membership is not granted, Ukraine will require binding security guarantees—ones strong enough to deter future aggression, and clear enough to ensure lasting peace," the head of the Ministry of Economy stressed.
- On Wednesday, April 23, the Ukrainian delegation arrived in the capital of the United Kingdom, London, where they will hold negotiations with representatives from Europe and the United States. Andrii Sybiha and Rustem Umerov have already begun a meeting with their British colleagues David Lammy and John Healey.
- Earlier, it was reported that peace talks at the ministerial level, which were supposed to take place in London on April 23, were canceled. Therefore, diplomats of a lower rank will participate in the meeting.
