Ukraine prepares list of critical objects off-limits for Russian attacks - Zelenskyy
Ukraine will prepare and hand over to its partners a list of energy, infrastructure and civilian targets that Russia has to cease striking
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed this issue at a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Helsinki on March 19, reports Ukrainska Pravda.
The president stated that Ukraine will refrain from targeting the Russian energy sector if Russia stops attacking Ukraine’s critical infrastructure facilities.
“Putin's assurances and only his words that he is giving orders not to hit the energy sector are not enough. Why? Because this war has made us very practical people. An example is yesterday's strike after Putin said that there would be no strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure. He said he had given the order. And then there were 145 attack drones, 4 S-300 missiles, 2 Iskander ballistic missiles. The strikes were on the railroad, on agricultural enterprises, and 21 civilian houses were also hit. Words are not enough,” he emphasized.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine wants control over this issue, and the main party that should control it should be the United States.
"And if we have such an agreement, there will be a list of objects – we have it – a list of civilian, energy, and infrastructure objects (we will also prepare this list and give it to our partners), and if the Russians do not strike our objects, we will not strike theirs," Zelenskyy concluded.
- On March 18, U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin that lasted about two hours. According to both parties, they agreed on a limited stop in attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
- On the evening of Tuesday, March 18, Russian forces launched drone strikes on Ukrainian territory. Casualties have been reported in the Kyiv region, along with strikes on Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
