Ukraine ready to receive, respond to Russia's 'memorandum' — Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the Russians must submit their 'memorandum.' In turn, Ukraine will review the proposals and provide a definite response to them
Interfax-Ukraine reported the information.
“We supported an unconditional ceasefire and a transition to diplomacy in one format or another. Again, we emphasize, in any format, with any participants, almost anywhere in the civilized world, we are ready to meet with Russia for direct negotiations or through intermediaries like the U.S., Europe, and others. Russia set specific conditions in Istanbul, and we agreed on the exchange of a thousand people. That is a good result,” the president said.
At the same time, Zelenskyy believes Russia is not ready for a ceasefire.
“Russia said: we will hand you something called a memorandum. They will pass on their vision of the next steps and whether Russia is capable of supporting a ceasefire and a meeting at the level of heads of state. We’ll read their proposals and provide a definite response,” he added.
In addition, the Ukrainian leader shared that Ukraine is discussing several possible venues for potential negotiations to end the war. The most realistic options are Turkey, the Vatican, and Switzerland.
At the same time, the president added that all parties support a meeting in the Vatican, except the Russian side.
"Everyone has signaled readiness for future meetings. Switzerland as well. The Swiss side is very eager, and we do not object. Once again, we all support it. We haven’t heard any signals from the Russians," he said.
- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that a new round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian sides will allegedly be announced soon.
