Ukraine hands over documents on violations of Russian Red Cross to IFRC
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets handed over documents to the President of the International Federation of the Red Cross Kate Forbes that testify to violations of the Russian Red Cross
Lubinets reported this on Telegram.
It is noted that the Russian Red Cross has been illegally using the property of the National Red Cross Society of Ukraine since 2014.
"In fact, for more than 10 years, the federation has been turning a blind eye to this: neither a position of support nor condemnation! Imagine: your property has been stolen, and in return - silence from organizations that should respond!" - the statement reads.
Lubinets emphasized that for a decade the Russian Red Cross has been on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea, which is legally Ukraine. According to the ombudsman, there has been no action or reaction from the IFRC.
"In addition, the Russian Red Cross systematically violates the principles of neutrality! We are talking about the cooperation of the Russian Red Cross with the Artek camp, where the identity of Ukrainian children is actually changed, as well as direct assistance to Russian military personnel," Lubinets added.
He emphasized that the federation should respond to violations with concrete actions, and not be a "lawyer" for the Russian Red Cross.
- Recently, Dmytro Lubinets expressed dissatisfaction with the response of international organizations to Russia's aggression.
