Ukraine, Denmark build smart AI solution to combat drones — Defence Express
Odd Systems, known for developing the Kurbas thermal imaging cameras, is teaming up with Denmark’s Terma Group to build an affordable AI-based drone interception system
Defence Express reports that Terma Group manufactures aviation equipment, including PIDS+ and ECIPS+ pylons currently used on Ukrainian F-16 fighters. Beyond aviation gear, Terma specializes in radar systems for land and sea applications — such as drone detection — as well as avionics and electronics. The company supplies over 80 critical components for the F-35 fighter jet, including fuselage parts, pylons, and electronic warfare equipment. Ukraine highlights Terma’s expertise as a systems integrator and sensor technology expert.
Odd Systems has not revealed full details yet, but Terma confirmed it will provide cutting-edge sensor technologies and situational awareness systems for Ukrainian unmanned platforms that already have combat experience. Together, the two companies plan to develop a system that detects, tracks, and autonomously neutralizes various airborne threats — from FPV drones and Mavic quadcopters to reconnaissance and long-range UAVs.
One likely interceptor platform includes the Horska-12, a drone fighter designed by Odd Systems. While they have not finalized the system’s exact design, it will clearly combine target detection with active interception capabilities. Terma has already started recruiting engineers and specialists to carry out the project.
