Yonhap reported this, citing the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the call, Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul spoke with Ukrainian counetrpart Andrii Sybiha about the treatment of two North Korean soldiers captured by Ukraine.

Seoul considers these captured soldiers South Korean citizens under its constitution and is prepared to accept their defection if they choose to seek asylum.

  • On February 27, South Korean intelligence reported that North Korea had deployed additional forces to Russia’s Kursk region. The exact size of the contingent remains unclear, but analysts believe they are meant to reinforce the Russian army in its war against Ukraine.
