He said this at a briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after signing a security agreement on July 8 in Warsaw.
"We are currently working to be able to burn Polish coal, of which we have a lot now, so that we do not have to pay for its combustion, that is, for emissions, and send electricity generated by Polish power plants from Polish coal for European money to Ukraine via the existing energy bridge," Tusk said.
He acknowledged that this would not solve Ukraine's problems completely, but "at least partially could help Ukraine to survive the difficult winter".
Tusk added that he would encourage European partners to "look for creative solutions" to support Ukraine's energy sector.
