Turkey says it's ready to send troops to Ukraine “if necessary”
Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Thursday that the country is ready to deploy troops to Ukraine “if necessary” to ensure peace
AFP quotes the statement of the Turkish Defense Ministry, European Pravda reports.
"The issue of participation in the mission... will be assessed with all interested sides if it is deemed necessary to establish regional stability and peace," the statement reads.
"After recent events, it is impossible to ensure European security without our country," insists the Turkish Defense Ministry.
Ankara emphasized that as a member of NATO and the OSCE, Turkey is an integral part of the European security architecture due to its developed defense industry, significant role in resolving regional crises, and strong military.
Earlier, the media reported that in discussions with representatives of Ukraine and Russia, Turkey expressed openness to the idea of deploying its troops on Ukrainian territory as part of "peacekeeping forces."
At the time, sources stated that Turkey would not participate in any "peacekeeping mission" unless it was involved in all consultations and preparations for its formation.
