Trump says Witkoff “had no idea about Russia or Putin”

"Steve had no idea about Russia, had no idea about Putin too much, didn't know too much about politics, wasn't that interested. He was really good at real estate, but he had that quality that I was looking for, and I didn't see it around in too many ways," Trump said.

He added that because of this, he expected the meeting between Witkoff and Putin to last 15–20 minutes, but it went on for five hours.

“I said: 'What the hell were you talking about for 5 hours?' And he said it was just a lot of interesting things,” concluded the American president.

• The first meeting between Witkoff and Putin took place in St. Petersburg on April 11. It lasted about 4.5 hours.
