One of the sources said that at first Trump did not want to hold the meeting, but eventually agreed.
Another source familiar with the meeting said it lasted 45 minutes and was ‘good and productive’. The source also said that the final decision to hold the trilateral meeting was made shortly before it.
- The day before, President Zelenskyy met with Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron. During the meeting, the leaders discussed the situation on the battlefield and a just peace for Ukraine. The President noted that ‘we all want this war to end as soon as possible and in a just way’.
- Later, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said that Ukraine and its leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy would like to strike a deal with Russia to end the war, which he called ‘madness’.
