Trump cannot be trusted
In his 78 days in power, President Trump achieved only one victory — a victory over his own image
It has now become crystal clear to everyone that Trump cannot be trusted. At all. And it turns out there’s no point in conducting any negotiations with official Washington, because while you're boarding the plane for your return flight after visiting the Oval Office, all agreements can be undone.
The saga of introducing and then abolishing tariffs for almost all countries is a complete fiasco that will haunt Trump for a long time — perhaps until the end of his presidential term.
Because instead of uniting the whole world against China — which the White House sees as its greatest geopolitical rival — Trump united the whole world against the United States. And there’s no way to cover up this shameful failure anymore — unless, of course, Trump suddenly embarks on another reckless adventure or even starts bombing Iran today, just to erase any mention of his massive tariff fiasco.
It will be interesting to see what U.S. domestic polling shows in a week. I suspect that after people have been watching their wealth vanish before their eyes for three days straight — and some even suffered heart attacks — the downward trend in approval ratings is inevitable.
