Too soon to claim Russian forces have crossed Oskil River in Kharkiv region – Ukraine's ACHILLES battalion
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of Ukraine's ACHILLES air defense battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade, believes that Russian troops can't cross the Oskil River without first securing the left-bank bridgehead
He shared this on Espreso TV.
"Talking about the enemy crossing the Oskil River is premature, in my opinion. Their main objective is to take the left-bank bridgehead, and until they manage to do that — particularly the Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi area — crossing the Oskil River simply isn't possible," Fedorenko said.
He added that even if Russian troops managed to take the left-bank, crossing the river would still be a serious challenge.
"I know exactly what I'm talking about because we crossed the Oskil River ourselves back in the fall of 2022. It's a real test. It’s not easy, and now we have to factor in 2024 technologies, especially attack drones. The defense forces of Ukraine are working daily to destroy the enemy, step by step, and to create the conditions that will cut them off, allowing us to stop their advances. Our goal is to take the tactical initiative and prevent them from expanding on the left-bank bridgehead," Fedorenko concluded.
The British Ministry of Defense has also predicted the possibility of Russian forces advancing near the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region.
