Ukraine's intelligence chief Budanov may resign - media
The current head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, may be dismissed. His place may be taken by the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko
This was reported by the Ukrainian NV portal on Sunday, September 29, 2024, citing its own source in the security forces.
‘Commenting on the information about the dismissal of Kyrylo Budanov, the source said: ‘This option exists’. At the same time, he denied the information of some Telegram channels about the current head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine being sent as an ambassador to a foreign country,’ NV writes.
Earlier, MP from the Voice faction Serhiy Rakhmanin claimed that Budanov had an allegedly difficult relationship with the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak.

Kyrylo Budanov became the head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine more than 4 years ago, on August 5, 2020.
During this time, he has achieved the following key victories:
- destruction of arsenals and weapons depots deep in the Russian Federation with long-range drones made in Ukraine,
- expulsion of the main forces of the Black Sea Fleet from the temporarily occupied Crimea - jointly with the SBU and the Navy,
- amphibious assaults and sabotage on the Crimean coast, in the part of Kherson region still controlled by the Russian Federation and on Boyko Towers, a gas and oil drilling platforms.
- preparations for the Kursk offensive,
- interaction with armed units of the Russian opposition and peoples enslaved by Moscow — the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Siberian Battalion, the Sheikh Mansour Battalion, etc.
