No threat of encirclement for Ukrainian forces in Kursk region, Syrskyi assures
Ukraine's army chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the situation on the border of Sumy region with Russia's Kursk region remains under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, and there is no threat of Ukrainian troops being encircled
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Syrskyi is overseeing operations in the Kursk military grouping zone. He noted that several settlements along the border, often mentioned in Russian propaganda reports, have been effectively destroyed by enemy shelling.
Despite Russia deploying a significant number of troops, reinforced by North Korean infantry, their forces are suffering heavy losses in personnel and equipment. Syrskyi reported that in just four days of fighting near Plyokhovo, the enemy lost nearly an entire infantry battalion.
Small Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian territory are being neutralized by defensive firepower, thanks to a well-prepared defensive system.
Syrskyi also decided on-site to strengthen Ukraine's military presence in the area with additional electronic warfare systems and drones.
"As of now, there is no threat of our units being encircled in the Kursk region. Troops are maneuvering in a timely manner to advantageous defensive positions," assured General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
- There is no encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region, and the command is not planning their withdrawal at the moment.
