From 2025, EU will give Ukraine €1.5 bn monthly from frozen Russian assets — European Council President
This December, the European Union will provide Ukraine with an additional €4.2 billion to support its budget, and from January 2025 will allocate €1.5 billion per month from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets
This was announced by President of the European Council Antonio Costa during a press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Costa announced that the European Union would provide Ukraine with an additional €4.2 billion this month to support its budget. Furthermore, starting next month, the EU plans to offer €1.5 billion in monthly assistance throughout the upcoming year.
The President of the European Council explained that these funds come from the proceeds of Russian assets and can also be used for military purposes.
In addition, according to the President of the European Council, the EU is preparing the 15th package of sanctions against the Putin regime.
Costa mentioned that the EU and Ukraine plan to initiate at least two clusters of negotiations on European integration in the first half of next year. President Zelenskyy highlighted the significance of these negotiations, emphasizing that Ukraine's gradual integration into the European internal market alongside the ongoing talks is entirely feasible.
"Our agenda also includes work on NATO, and ensuring NATO membership for Ukraine is a necessary thing for our survival. We are working at all levels to strengthen Ukraine's position for the entire Euro-Atlantic community," Zelenskyy concluded.
