Slovakia announces resumption of Russian oil supply via Druzhba pipeline
Oil supply to Slovakia through the Druzhba pipeline has been restored, with the crude expected to reach the country later on Wednesday, March 12
This was reported by Slovak pipeline operator Transpetrol, according to Reuters.
"According to our information, after resolving the technical issues on the Druzhba pipeline outside Slovakia, oil pumping towards our territory has resumed, and the crude is expected to arrive in Slovakia this evening," Transpetrol stated.
On Tuesday, March 11, the company had reported that oil flows to Slovakia via the pipeline were suspended, expecting them to resume later that evening.
As noted by Reuters, oil supply via the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic has been disrupted over the past few days.
The southern section of the Druzhba pipeline, which transports oil from Russia to Europe, branches in Ukraine near the Slovak border: one line supplies oil to Slovakia and the Czech Republic, while the other delivers it to Hungary.
- On March 11, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó claimed that oil transportation to the country was halted due to an alleged Ukrainian drone attack on the Druzhba pipeline.
