'Secret meeting' on Ukraine's future to take place in Sweden — media
A closed-door meeting on the future of Ukraine, Euro-Atlantic relations, and the U.S. economy is set to take place in Sweden on June 12, with no media briefings planned
The Polish outlet RMF24 reported the information. This was later confirmed by the press service of the Bilderberg meeting.
It is noted that participants in the conference will include members of the Bilderberg Group – representatives from the political sphere, international institutions, banks, and globally influential corporations.
Among the 120–150 invited participants are Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and his wife, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and Bundestag President Julia Klöckner.
The meeting will take place at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. The report states that the discussions will cover the future of Ukraine and Europe, Euro-Atlantic relations, the American economy, the situation in the Middle East, as well as artificial intelligence, defense innovations, and migration.
Journalists note that preparations for the Bilderberg Group meeting have been ongoing since Tuesday, and the area around the hotel is fenced off and guarded by police.
"The group’s activities are secret; there are no broadcasts or press conferences. This is why conspiracy theories tend to arise around it," the article adds.
The Bilderberg Group's website emphasized that the 71st meeting will take place from June 12-15. Topics to be discussed include Ukraine, transatlantic relations, the authoritarian axis, the geopolitics of energy, reproduction, depopulation, and migration, among others.
"Founded in 1954, the Bilderberg Meeting is an annual conference designed to foster dialogue between Europe and North America. Every year, between 120 and 140 political leaders and experts from industry, finance, academia, and the media are invited to participate in the meeting. Approximately two-thirds of the participants come from Europe, and the rest from North America; approximately a quarter are from the political sphere. The Bilderberg Meeting is a forum for informal discussions about major issues. The meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, which states that participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker, nor of any other participant, may be revealed," the material emphasizes.
- Earlier, U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg outlined his vision for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, suggesting that Moscow should be reintegrated into the international community—what he referred to as a modern “League of Nations” — and compelled to live with the long-term consequences of the war.
