SBU’s operation that hit 41 Russian bombers was 18 months in making
The special operation known as “Pavutyna” (“Web”), which resulted in the destruction of 41 Russian strategic aircraft, was in preparation for more than 18 months
The mission was personally overseen by Ukrainian President and Commander-in-Chief Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and executed by SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk together with his team at the Security Service of Ukraine. Ukrainian journalist Andriy Tsaplienko shared the information on his Telegram channel.
Sources familiar with the operation describe it as a complex logistical feat. The SBU first smuggled FPV drones into Russian territory. Later, they transported mobile wooden cabins across the border. Once inside Russia, drones were concealed under the roofs of these cabins, which were mounted on cargo trucks. At the designated moment, the cabin roofs were remotely opened, launching the drones toward Russian military airfields.
Exclusive images obtained by the outlet show how the drones were prepared for their strikes against Russian bombers.
Sources within the SBU emphasized that all operatives involved in this historic mission are already safely back in Ukraine. Should the Putin regime attempt to arrest anyone, it would be nothing more than staged theater for domestic propaganda.
