"By the decision of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 2 months was imposed on Vasyl Maliuk," the statement says.
The court's press service added that the arrest period will be counted from the moment the convict is extradited to the territory of the Russian Federation or detained in Russia.
Maliuk is currently on the "federal and international wanted" list.
The head of the SBU himself reacted to this decision. In a commentary to RBC-Ukraine, he noted that “the decision to arrest from the Kremlin's pocket judges does not deserve any attention.”
"Like all Ukrainians, I am interested in only one trial - the trial of Putin. We are doing everything in our power to see this war criminal on the bench in The Hague as soon as possible," the SBU head emphasized.
