Russian-backed 'DPR' sentences two Azov fighters to over 20 years in prison
In the self-proclaimed 'DPR,' Russian forces have sentenced two servicemen of the Azov Regiment to 24 and 26 years of imprisonment
The Russian Investigative Committee reported the information.
According to the report, sniper Ruslan Orlov and medic Artem Novikov were allegedly found guilty of "cruel treatment of civilians" and "murder of two or more people by an organized group, motivated by political and ideological hatred."
"The investigation and court found that in April 2022, Orlov and Novikov, while near house No. 42 on Lomizova Street in Mariupol, spotted three men who were not involved in the fighting. Believing the men held pro-Russian views, the accused, following an illegal order from a superior, opened fire with their weapons. All three were fatally wounded," the Russian side claims.
According to the message, Orlov received a 26-year sentence, and Novikov was sentenced to 24 years.
