Russia claims to have shot down Ukrainian UAV over North Ossetia in Mozdok
On June 8, Russian air defense allegedly shot down drones in Mozdok, North Ossetia-Alania, where the airfield from which the aircraft firing at Ukraine take off is located
The Russian Defense Ministry and the head of the region, Sergey Meniaylo, report.
“At about 8:40 a.m. Moscow time, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to launch a terrorist attack using aircraft-type UAVs against targets in the Russian Federation was repelled,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to them, Russian air defense shot down the UAV over the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
The head of the region, Sergei Meniyailo, clarified that Russian air defense allegedly shot down three drones in Mozdok.
"According to preliminary information, the UAVs came from the Ukrainian side. Their target was a military airfield. There were no casualties or damage,” he wrote.
Mozdok is the location of the Russian military airfield from which Russian MiG-31K and Tu fighters take off and fire on Ukraine.
- On the night of June 8, the Russian army launched 13 attack drones and a Kh-59 missile at Ukrainian territory. Ukraine's air defense destroyed the missile and 9 UAVs.
