Russian forces expand flanks in Ukraine's Kharkiv region - local official
Kharkiv Regional Council deputy Oleksandr Skoryk says that the loss of Borova could strategically open access to the city of Izium
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation is quite difficult. The Russians are constantly launching assaults, but they have been pushed out from the right bank. The village of Novomlynsk, where Russian forces tried to entrench, has been liberated. Currently, their presence on the right bank of the Oskil River is no longer relevant. However, the Russians are expanding their flanks to the left and right, and the settlements in those areas are constantly under assault," Skoryk noted.
According to the deputy of the Kharkiv Regional Council, settlements like Borova are already quite close to the frontline - about 14 kilometers away. If Ukraine loses Borova, it could strategically open access to the city of Izium.
"Additionally, Kupyansk and Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi could face the threat of occupation, especially the part of Kupyansk located on the left bank. Therefore, the situation remains challenging, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding on," emphasized Skoryk.
- Russian forces attempted to seize and hold a bridgehead on the right bank of the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Defense Forces pushed them back.
- The Russians focused their main efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors of the front, while also actively attacking the Vremivka and Kupiansk areas. Over the past day, 192 combat engagements were recorded.
