Russian troops build up infantry, armor, air power in Chasiv Yar — Ukraine’s 24th Brigade
Ivan Petrychak, press officer with the 24th Mechanized Brigade, says that the situation in Chasiv Yar is difficult, and Russia is increasing its offensive potential
He shared this on Espreso TV.
“The deployment location of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade is no secret anymore. We’ve been holding the defense of Chasiv Yar for almost a year after moving out of Toretsk. The situation here is far from simple. Russian army is building up its offensive potential, which is evident in the growing number of infantry, mechanized army units, and also small aircraft. The amount of Russian weapons is increasing, which makes the situation more complicated. But we’re holding; Chasiv Yar remains Ukrainian, and great thanks go to the infantry of the 24th Brigade,” he said.
Ivan Petrychak noted that the Russian forces try to seize new territory every day, actively using both guided bombs and unguided aviation rockets.
“Basically, every day there are battles where Russian soldiers try to advance and take territory. These assaults and raids are being repelled. Air-dropped bombs are used daily now; if earlier aviation was sporadic, now it can hit up to ten times a day. These include both guided bombs and unguided aviation rockets,” the spokesman added.
- Despite a renewed Russian push in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian forces have managed to slow the advance, relying heavily on drones to compensate for dwindling manpower and resources.
