Ukrainian forces push back Russian troops breaking through to near Orlivka — Armed Forces Commander Syrskyi
Ukraine's Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that the situation is especially tense in the Avdiivka and Zaporizhzhia sectors, where Russian assault units are trying to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces reports this.
"The enemy is actively pursuing offensive actions across various front lines. The Avdiivka and Zaporizhzhia directions are under intense pressure, with Russian assault units seeking to breach our defenses and capture Tonenke, Orlivka, Semenivka, Berdychi, Krasnohorivka," stated Syrskyi.
Fierce battles persist in Verbove and Robotyne districts, where the enemy strives to regain control.
Syrskyi commenced his duties in the conflict area with the operational-tactical group "Donetsk," focusing on units defending in the Avdiivka direction.
"The success of any battle hinges on planning quality and the effective execution of the commander's plan by subordinates. At the battalion, company, and platoon levels, the key is practical implementation, holding positions, and eliminating the enemy using all available means," he remarked.
Syrskyi acknowledged some miscalculations by individual commanders during their operations, affecting defense stability in specific directions.
"I took immediate steps to rectify the situation on-site, allocating additional ammunition, material resources, and necessary reserves," emphasized the head.
He commended the 3rd Assault Brigade and 25th Separate Airborne Brigade for repelling the enemy that had breached the outskirts of Orlivka.
- On February 28, the 3rd Assault Brigade successfully ousted Russian forces from Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region after invaders entered the city's south-eastern part the day before.
