Russian forces active on several fronts but won’t succeed: MP on possible Sumy offensive
Ukrainian MP, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, and SBU Colonel Roman Kostenko shared his opinion on a possible Russian offensive in the Sumy region
This was reported by Espreso correspondent Kateryna Halko.
He noted that although the Russian army has intensified its activities on several fronts, it will not be able to carry out a full-scale offensive.
“Look, Russia is preparing to advance, preparing to conduct, I would say, active operations. Even what they did last year can't be called an offensive in military terms — it was more like trying to break through defensive lines,” Kostenko said.
According to him, Russian forces have concentrated troops and equipment in more than five directions, trying to find the most favorable conditions for attacks.
“If they achieve success somewhere, they may try to develop it. But for now, I don’t see any directions where the enemy could achieve success at a strategic or even operational level,” Kostenko concluded.
