Russian-Ukrainian frontline hits positional deadlock — Defense Express
Military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi from Defense Express has said that Russian forces have no significant advances, indicating problems in their military command
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“There is a classic positional stalemate on the front. On one hand, this works against us (Ukrainian forces - ed.), as it looks like we won’t be able to advance beyond the positions we currently hold. On the other hand, the Russians have been ‘almost’ reaching the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region for nearly a year — but haven’t succeeded. Or they get close to Pokrovsk, yet again without any progress.
This indicates they have serious problems, particularly a lack of effective officer control. Often they don’t follow orders but just carry out some tasks, and sometimes they completely ignore commands, sending their officers ‘to hell,’” Kyrychevskyi noted.
According to the military expert, Russia is currently forming a large troop grouping, which creates some psychological pressure for Ukraine. However, the movement of these forces has been very slow so far. On Ukraine’s side, the key is to avoid making its own mistakes. The expert notes that while Russian decisions often seem illogical, Ukraine has also made questionable choices at times.
“There is a direct correlation between how the Russians try to deceive everyone in Istanbul and what they can actually achieve on the battlefield.
President Zelenskyy speaks about the main direction of the Russian strike being the Sumy region. Perhaps the Russians believe that if they manage to deliver an effective blow in the Sumy region, it will help them break our defense system. But on the other hand, they have not concentrated as many troops in the Sumy region as needed to carry out serious offensive operations,” Kyrychevskyi added.
- Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,100 troops at the front. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 36 artillery systems and 32 armored combat vehicles.
- Lt. Col. Andrii Nazarenko, commander with Ukraine's 72nd Brigade's Black Zaporozhians Drone Battalion, says that Russia is stretching its forces and resources by attacking from 7-10 directions simultaneously.
