Russian troops focus on Pokrovsk, Kurakhove directions - Ukraine's General Staff

More than 90 combat engagements have occurred at the front since the beginning of July 24, with Russian troops continuing their efforts to break through Ukrainian defenses

According to the General Staff, on July 24, Russian forces are focusing their efforts on the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions.

Systematic attacks by Russian artillery and aviation along the border of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue. Today, Khodyne, Vovkivka, Klyusy, and Dachne were targeted by shelling from Russia territory. The occupying army also struck Oleksandrivka with unguided aerial missiles and fired at Basivka with multiple rocket launchers.

Russian aircraft are persistently targeting the Kharkiv region. Today, Russian forces have dropped 15 aerial guided bombs, targeting Vovchansk, Lyptsi, Velyki Prokhody, and Mali Prokhody.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces attempted to storm Ukrainian defenses near Tykhe, Hlyboke, and Sotnytskyi Kozachok five times. All Russian attacks were repelled.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia launched four attacks on Ukrainian positions near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Stelmakhivka. Ukrainian soldiers are successfully holding the line.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Makiivka, Nevske, and the Serebryansky forest area. Five of these engagements ended unsuccessfully for Russia, and one was still ongoing at the time of writing.

In the Siversk sector, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled four attacks by Russian forces near Verkhniokamianske, Rozdolivka, Ivano-Daryivka, and Pereizne. Another combat engagement is ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops stormed Ukrainian positions five times near Novomarkove and Chasiv Yar. Four firefights are currently ongoing, but the General Staff assured that the situation is under control.

In the Toretsk sector, the number of Russian attacks has increased to six. Russia is concentrating on the areas of Pivnichne and New York, where six firefights are ongoing. The occupying army is actively using aviation in this area, including bombing the Toretsk area.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian army, supported by aviation, has made 22 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Vovche, Prohres, Novoselivka Persha, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Karlivka, and Zhelanne since the beginning of the day. The Defense Forces of Ukraine are holding back the attack, having repelled 15 attacks, with seven more ongoing. Russia's losses are still being assessed.

Fighting is also ongoing near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Kostiantynivka in the Kurakhove sector. According to updated information, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 27 attacks in this sector today, with eight attacks still ongoing.

In the Vremivka sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled eight Russian attacks towards Kostiantynivka, Vodiane, and Vuhledar.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces made two unsuccessful attempts to attack Ukrainian units near Mala Tokmachka and Novodarivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russia made one unsuccessful attempt to drive Ukrainian troops from their positions.
