Russian spring-summer offensive slowly beginning - Ukrainian officer
Reserve Major of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksii Hetman, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, noted that the number of combat engagements has increased slightly, with no significant changes in different frontline areas
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The Russians said that in spring-summer 2025, they would intensify their offensive actions, meaning they would launch another offensive operation. Our intelligence knew about this as early as last autumn. Later, our political leadership also mentioned this offensive, citing information about Russia’s actions in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia sectors.
Almost simultaneously with these reports, Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi noted that the increased Russian activity could be considered, at least on our northern border, as the offensive actions that the Russians had announced," commented the major of the National Guard reserve.
According to him, the Russians have not officially declared the start of this offensive campaign. If the Russian forces had declared the beginning of the offensive, which they had announced as very powerful and lasting from six months to nine months, the question would arise: if you have started the offensive actions that you so proudly announced, why is there no progress?
"If we analyze the statistics over the year, the number of combat actions has only slightly increased. In different sectors, there are no noticeable significant changes. One can consider that the offensive is slowly starting, but the Russians have no success," summarized Oleksii Hetman.
- On April 26, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that 90 combat clashes took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russians attacked Ukrainian positions 31 times, with three battles still ongoing.
