Russian soldiers buy old Soviet cars to make assaults more 'comfortable' — Ukrainian officer
National Guard Major Maksym Taran says Russia has recently been sending old, weak, and disabled soldiers in the first wave of attacks — essentially to get them killed and clear out what they see as dead weight
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"In the Siversk sector, the Russian army does not abandon its attempts to break through our defense line, using all available firepower. The Russians continue to use their old tactics - assaults by small tactical groups. For mobility, they use Zhiguli, Niva, and motorcycles, which, by the way, Russian soldiers buy at their own expense. The Russian invaders have a choice, as their command tells them: 'If you want to storm Ukrainian trenches more comfortably and with more mobility, then buy Zhiguli and Niva. If you don’t, then walk 5-10 km.' As a result, the Russian infantry has no choice but to buy a motorcycle or car," commented a Major of the National Guard.
According to him, recently, the Russians have been using old, weak, and disabled soldiers for the initial wave of attacks, in order to "eliminate" them and avoid having such a burden in their units. After them, more trained personnel follow.
"At first, Russian troops send 3–4 groups, each with 2 to 4 individuals. They try to break through to our trenches by sprinting. At the same time, the Russians launch drones to distract our personnel from the assault. When any movement of the Russian invaders occurs, whether on foot or on motorcycles, Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance immediately detects it, and these enemy targets are destroyed with FPV and other means. Then, on the front line, with the remaining small groups of Russian forces, our infantry works," said Maksym Taran.
- The Ukrainian General Staff reported that on March 20, 166 combat engagements were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 53 assaults. In the Siversk sector, the Russians made three attempts to advance in the Bilohorivka area, as well as towards Verkhniokamianske and Ivano-Dariivka.
