Russian propaganda blames Ukraine for attack on Dnipro
Russian media allege Ukraine's air defense hit the Odesa–Zaporizhzhia train, attempting to deflect blame for Russia’s deadly missile attack on Dnipro
Russian propagandists are spreading fake reports claiming that Moscow’s attack on Dnipro on June 24 was allegedly the result of Ukrainian air defense activity. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
According to the fake reports from Russian propagandists, the attack on Dnipro on June 24 is allegedly the result of the work of Ukrainian air defense systems.
"The enemy is once again trying to shift responsibility for the terror against Ukraine's civilian population. After the ballistic missile strike on Dnipro, pro-Kremlin Telegram channels began spreading a fake, claiming that the Odesa–Zaporizhzhia train was damaged due to Ukrainian air defense operations," the report said.
The CCD emphasizes that this is another “cynical lie that does not reflect reality.” As reported by Ukrainian Railways, train No. 52 Odesa–Zaporizhzhia sustained damage as a result of a terrorist strike carried out by Russian forces on the Dnipro region.
The center explained that such fakes are being spread in order to shift responsibility for Russia’s own crimes onto Ukraine and to justify attacks on civilian infrastructure.
- On the morning of Tuesday, June 24, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian territory with combat drones and missiles. The Odesa–Zaporizhzhia passenger train came under fire. At least 17 civilians were killed in Dnipro and region, more than 160 were wounded.
