Russia attacks Ukraine’s Sumy region, killing married couple, injuring 4 more

On the night of February 26, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with drones, missiles, and aerial bombs. The attack killed 2 people in the Sumy region and injured 4 in Dnipro. There were reports of strikes on the Kharkiv region

At around 7:50 p.m., the Ukrainian military warned of the threat of ballistic missile launch.

Andriy Raikovych, head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, said that the region had survived another massive missile attack. Preliminary, there were no casualties or property damage.

Casualties in the Sumy region

On the morning of February 26, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that Russian terrorists had shelled the region once again. At about 02:15 a.m., the Russian forces launched an air strike on the Yunakivka community.

Russian troops used guided aerial bombs. A total of 4 explosions were recorded.

Preliminarily, two people were killed in the air strike - a married couple who were at home at the time of the strike. A private residential building was also destroyed, and 5 houses were damaged.

Strike on Dnipro

At around 9:17 p.m., Ukrainian Air Force reported a missile launched in the direction of Dnipro. Suspilne later reported several explosions in the suburbs. Ukrainian soldiers also reported Shahed drones near the city.

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov said that two people were injured in the Russian attack. There is also destruction in the private sector - roofs, facades, and windows have been damaged. Later, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, clarified that four people had been injured. 

"Men aged 41 and 49 were injured, along with women aged 20 and 60. All are in the hospital," said Lysak, adding that in the residential sector of Dnipro, 10 private houses and several cars were damaged.

Later reports stated that due to the falling debris of a Russian drone, windows were shattered in three five-story buildings and production buildings of one of the enterprises. In total, overnight, 10 private houses, 3 passenger cars, and a cargo vehicle were damaged.

Explosions in Kharkiv region

At around 11:05 p.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov reported explosions in Kharkiv. Later, Syniehubov clarified that Russian troops struck the Kharkiv district.

"Preliminary: Russian army struck with S-300 missiles from the territory of Belgorod. At this moment, no information about casualties has been received," he added.

As of the morning, the available information states that the Russian invaders had launched two missile strikes from the S-300 system at the village of Pisochyn, Kharkiv region.

Russian troops hit two civilian hangars with grain. The company's equipment, including tractors and storm vehicles, was damaged. There were no casualties.

In addition, at about 2:20 a.m., two Russian Shaheds hit the territory of a non-operational recreation center near the village of Skrypai, Chuhuiv district, damaging 3 one-story houses. There was no information on casualties.

  • On Sunday, February 25, Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the military administration, one person was killed and three were wounded in the attack.
