Russian missile strikes Mykolaiv residential area, killing 4, including child
On July 19, the occupying Russian army launched a missile attack on a residential area in Mykolaiv, killing several civilians, including a child
Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reports.
It is noted that a man injured in a missile strike died in hospital. Thus, the death toll has risen to 4.
As of 7 a.m. on July 20, the number of victims had risen to 24, said Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Administration.
"24 people were injured, including four children. Nine adults and two children received outpatient medical care. Two adults and two children are currently in medical institutions," the statement says.
The State Emergency Service reported an increase in the number of victims to 15. Of these, 8 were hospitalized.
"At the moment, we know about 14 injured and 3 killed," Sienkevych reported at 20:59.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the death of three people.
"A Russian missile strike hit a playground near a residential house in Mykolaiv. As of now, five people are reported wounded, and three people, including a child, have been killed," he stated.
Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
"Every day, Russia's acts of terror prove that pressure alone is not enough. This destruction of life must be stopped. New solutions are needed to support our defense. Russia must feel the power of the world," he added.
Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych also reported that three people have been confirmed dead, including a child. He mentioned that the attack caused damage to the residential sector.
Vitaliy Kim, the head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, said that ambulances have arrived at the scene.
Ukrainian Air Force had issued a warning about a missile heading toward Mykolaiv at 17:10.
