Russia's Lyman assault becomes grinding onslaught of manpower — Ukraine's 60th Brigade
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army is massively storming positions with infantry, refusing to actively use armored vehicles. Instead, combat vehicles are mostly used as artillery from hidden positions
Maksym Bilousov, the head of Communications for the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade, said this on Espreso TV.
“On the Lyman front, the challenge lies in the fact that this is a Russian infantry onslaught: there are very many of them, and they advance from different points. They can move at night and use anti-drone cloaks. There are also groups that can operate like reconnaissance and sabotage units, entering completely unnoticed. These are mostly well-trained infantrymen carrying out specific tasks. The difficulty is precisely due to the sheer number of Russian troops,” Bilousov emphasized.
According to the head of communications for the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade, the Russian army on the Lyman front has almost completely stopped using mechanized assaults.
“Recently, our troops destroyed a tank found in concealed positions. The enemy has stopped using vehicles for movement and instead employs them as artillery. For example, they can position a vehicle, fire, and immediately hide. It is therefore very important for us to destroy this type of mechanized equipment when the Russians conceal it in shelters,” Bilousov added.
- Over September 22, there were 179 combat engagements on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The Defense Forces repelled 58 Russian troops’ attacks on the Pokrovsk front.
