Russian forces try to encircle Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region from three directions
The Russian army is trying to break through to Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region from the Pokrovsk direction and encircle the town
Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson of the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group, stated this, as cited by Ukrinform.
"The Russians have been trying to encircle Kostiantynivka from three directions for a long time. Previously, they tried to approach it either from the Toretsk or Kramatorsk directions, from Chasiv Yar—wherever they could break through first—but in a year and a half, they have not succeeded in any of these directions," he said.
According to the spokesperson, the Russian forces are now trying to approach Kostiantynivka from the Pokrovsk direction via the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka highway and advance further. Fighting is currently ongoing there.
At the same time, Trehubov emphasized that the Russians have concentrated their largest forces in the Pokrovsk direction.
As of June 14, the Russian army has advanced in the Donetsk region toward Kostiantynivka and the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region. At the same time, the Defense Forces pushed the invaders back in one area near the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region.
