Russian forces push toward Sumy border, attempting to cut Ukrainian logistics routes
Analysts from DeepState report that Russian forces are actively attacking the border area between Kursk and Sumy regions, aiming to disrupt Ukrainian military logistics
This was reported by the DeepState OSINT project.
According to their statement, the situation is particularly tense around the settlements of Zhuravka and Novenke.
DeepState analysts noted that Ukrainian defense forces have managed to hold back enemy advances toward Zhuravka despite repeated Russian attempts.
However, between Zhuravka and Novenke, Russian troops have made more progress, pushing through tree lines to advance into Sumy region. Ukrainian forces are taking measures to prevent further Russian movements.
The situation near Novenke is especially difficult. Russian troops are massing in the village and trying to advance toward Basivka, threatening logistical routes passing through Yunakivka.
"The enemy has numerical superiority, which creates additional challenges," the analysts noted.
DeepState has also observed an increase in Russian activity on the right flank of the Kursk military grouping, specifically near Kurylivka, close to the Ukrainian border in Sumy region.
"The objective remains the same—to establish additional control over Ukrainian logistics, both through fire control and potential physical control in the future," DeepState explained.
Additionally, Russian forces hold a significant advantage in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which they use for both reconnaissance and attacks. FPV drones are being heavily deployed to control Ukrainian movements in the border zone.
"How this will end remains uncertain. Unfortunately, we have a recurring tendency to 'ignore problems that later lead to serious consequences.' The reasons for this are unclear. We will continue to monitor the situation. The authority to make strategic decisions lies solely with military command. Meanwhile, Ukrainian defense forces on the ground are doing everything possible—stopping enemy advances, disrupting their buildup, and pushing them back," the analysts concluded.
- During the night of March 7, DeepState reported that Russian troops advanced near Kurylivka in the Kursk region and Fyholivka in Kharkiv region on March 6.
- Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, stated that Russian forces are attempting to break through Ukrainian defensive lines near Sudzha in the Kursk region, where fighting is currently ongoing.
