Russian forces hold sports contest at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant
The Russia-installed authorities organize Spartakiad sports contest at the captured Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to boost "team spirit"
This was reported by the National Resistance Center (NRC).
According to the report, the initiator of the "sports festival" is Kremlin-appointed Yuriy Chernichuk, the so-called director of the ZNPP.
"Volleyball, football, chess, table tennis—instead of ensuring the safe operation of a nuclear facility, the occupiers at ZNPP are hosting 'Spartakiad-2025' to boost 'team spirit,'" the statement reads.
The resistance emphasized that this is yet another attempt to legitimize the occupation of the plant while masking crimes against civilians with entertainment at a nuclear site. Such actions pose a direct risk to the entire region and openly violate international nuclear safety standards.
The National Resistance Center calls on the international community to respond to this threat.
- Energy Advocacy Director at the International Center for Ukrainian Victory (ICUV), says that before the full-scale invasion, four of six reactors at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant ran on American-made Westinghouse fuel.
